California Personal Responsibility Education Program (CA PREP)

The purpose of CA PREP is to 1) educate California’s most high-risk and vulnerable adolescents on both abstinence and contraception by replicating evidence-based program models that have been proven to change behavior or reduce pregnancy among youth; 2) address at least three adulthood preparation subjects; 3) create family planning clinical linkages; and 4) maintain a community coalition of stakeholders to engage community members in actions that change social norms.

Evidence Based Program Models (EBPM) Facilitator Training

Be Proud! Be Responsible!

Be Proud! Be Responsible! is a curriculum that provides adolescents with the knowledge, motivation and skills necessary to change their behaviors in ways that will reduce their risk of contracting HIV, other sexually transmitted diseases and unplanned pregnancy. The curriculum is intended to delay initiation of sex among sexually inexperienced youth, to reduce unprotected sex among sexually active youth, and to help young people make proud and responsible decisions about their sexual behaviors.

 ¡Cuidate!

The word "cuídate" means “take care of yourself,” which is the theme of this culturally-based program adapted from "Be Proud! Be Responsible!". Using aspects of Latino culture interwoven into the curriculum, ¡Cuídate! helps Latino youth develop the knowledge, attitudes, and skills to reduce their risk for HIV, other STDs and unplanned pregnancy.

Making Proud Choices!

Making Proud Choices! A Safer Sex Approach to STDs, Teen Pregnancy, and HIV Prevention curriculum is a  curriculum that provides young adolescents with the knowledge, confidence and skills necessary to reduce their risk of STDs, HIV and pregnancy by abstaining from sex or using condoms if they choose to have sex. Making Proud Choices! is an adaptation of Be Proud! Be Responsible! that acknowledges abstinence as the most effective way to eliminate these risks.

SHARP

SHARP is an intensive, interactive single-session intervention that incorporates videos, lecture, group discussion and activities. targeting adolescents who are at risk for STDs/HIV and substance use. SHARP program goals are intended to deepen STD/HIV knowledge, improve correct condom use, reduce sexual risks and alcohol use and set long-term goals.
