STD Update: Emphasis on Syphilis & the optional Male & Female Genital Exam Skills -- November 2 & 3, 2009 in Sacramento, CA
This course covers epidemiology, diagnosis, treatment, and management of STDs for the practicing clinician. It is presented in an interactive format and incorporates case discussions. Emphasis will be placed on diagnosis and management strategies for syphilis, evaluating a patient with a positive serologic test for syphilis using a decision algorithm, correct use for high-risk DNA HPV tests, and suppressive & episodic treatment options for patients with HSV. New treatment guidelines for gonorrhea and chlamydia as recommended in the CDC 2006 STD Treatment Guidelines will also be covered.

The optional Male & Female Genital Exam Skills is designed for clinicians who will be using these skills in their clinical practice. This hands-on, skills-based 4-hour training focuses on the male and female genital exam. All participants will have the opportunity to practice on model male and female teaching assistants. Recommended for clinicians interested in improving exam skills.
