Technical Assistance for PWP now Available for California HIV Providers

What Technical Assistance Can Offer

Technical assistance can help programs address the challenges which may arise as agencies attempt to implement prevention work with people living with HIV. We refer to prevention with positives as any programmatic activity or action on the part of providers that supports clients living with HIV to improve their quality of life and their understanding and management of personal risks. Prevention activities can include individual, group and structural interventions.

  • Positive Strengths: A two-day foundation training designed to build provider competency in providing comprehensive prevention services to people living with HIV.

  • Integrating prevention services for PWHIV into existing CARE and primary services

  • Building assessment and intervention skills for care providers

  • Planning with community-based organizations, counties and local health jurisdictions on provider expectations regarding prevention with positives

  • Improving referrals and resources for working with HIV+ clients

  • Improving access and leadership in HIV+ community members

  • Developing needs assessments for providers and clients

How It Works

Screening begins with the initial telephone contact.  If your agency is appropriate for services, we will arrange for an in-depth interview in person or on the telephone.    We will work with you to develop a work plan outlining clear goals, objectives and timelines.  Progress will be monitored at regular intervals.  We will evaluate the effectiveness of the technical assistance upon initial completion of the work plan.  Medium term follow-up evaluations will also be conducted.
