More About The Course

This is one of our most popular courses, designed to help you gain an understanding of how interventions work to change behaviors and how to select the most effective intervention for your community.

The primary goal of this training is to provide trainees with the skills to select effective behavioral intervention(s) that best fit their community's HIV prevention needs and organization's capacity. This selection process will consequently provide the foundation for successful adaptation and implementation of the intervention(s).

Objectives of Selecting Effective Behavioral Interventions Training

At the end of this two-day training, trainees will be able to:

1. List the four steps in selecting an effective behavioral intervention (EBI);

2. Describe how behavioral interventions work to change behaviors;

3. Use community assessment results to identify HIV risk behaviors and risk factors of a target population and to narrow that population to an intervention population;

4. Examine EBI-specific behavioral change logic models to assess behavioral interventions;

5. Assess agency capacity in relation to EBI-specific implementation plans;

6. Match the results of community assessment, intervention examination, and agency capacity assessment to select an appropriate EBI; and

7. Identify available technical assistance resources.
