This series was originally developed through a collaboration between California Department of Public Health (CDPH), California Prevention Training Center (CAPTC), and the Virtual Training Academy (VTA) in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. It was designed to train and support contact investigators (CI) and contact tracers (CT). Although the courses focus on COVID-19, the skills taught are applicable to staff involved in disease intervention (DI) who wish to enhance or refresh their interviewing skills. With ongoing COVID-19 surges, much of the content remains highly relevant for staff conducting interviews with COVID-19 patients even though guidance and recommendations have since been updated and are not reflected in this content.
