February is synonymous with Valentines Day - the traditional time to celebrate love with gifts of candy and flowers. Now is a great time to expand the tradition to celebrate the condom. Often maligned or misrepresented, this wonderful device protects us from sexually transmitted diseases including HIV/AIDS and unwanted pregnancy. Modern latex and polyurethane condoms are available in various sizes, colors, scents and are effective and comfortable. No doubt that the comfort and convenience factors have improved considerably since the days of condoms made of thin leather or animal intestines. Fun and sexy packaging is also available. Note the fine example of the CFHC condom covers featured at the top of this page.

There is a lot to know about condoms. Below are resources that list successful condom campaigns, condom promotional and educational materials available on SWAP, and CDC's recently published materials on male latex condoms and a fact sheet about the improved female condom (FC2).

Use this information so that condom use is as much a part of
Valentines Day as a dozen roses or a box of chocolates!
